MAKAN-مكان is a journal edited and published by Think Tanger, the inaugural issue – Informal Utopias – was published in 2020. This issue established the foundations for the journal as a vehicle for critical engagement with contemporary architectural and urban conditions, the urgency for a representation of plurality, and with academic scholarship emanating from, or focused on exploring Africa and the Arabic-speaking milieu. MAKAN offers a diverse range of different authorial methods framed within various geo-cultural perspectives, as well as visual arts and graphic design.
The second and latest issue of MAKAN-مكان — Manufacturing Narratives, 2023, focuses on how interrogating narrativity can provoke fundamental questions about how societies define or choose to accept societal or historical truths in today’s world.
